A new article I co-authored with Nasrin Kowkabi and Tzu-Yu (Julie) Lin has just been published in the TESL Canada Journal (Vol. 42, Issue 2, 2025).
The article, titled “Harnessing Multilingual International Students’ English Academic Socialization through Asynchronous Interactive Online Orientation,” describes a collaborative project we developed to support multilingual international students as they transition into the academic environment of a major Canadian university. Drawing on an academic discourse socialization framework, we designed a set of asynchronous, interactive, self-paced online modules hosted on the university’s learning management system, intended to complement traditional in-person orientations and offer students greater flexibility, accessibility, and depth of support.
